Korean food - Korean Ginseng chicken soup(Samgyetang 蔘鷄湯, サムゲタン, さんげたん)
Today, I'd like to introduce a famous Korean food restaurant which made me a frequenter of the place. The Korean food restaurant is called "Young Yang Center" which means "Nutrition Center"? in English.
The first "Young Yang Center" was opened in Myoung-dong, Seoul in 1960 and has expanded rapidly ever since.
For 50 years, the Korean food restaurant is very well known for its nutritious Korean Ginseng chicken broth - Korean Ginseng chicken soup(Samgyetang in Korean - 蔘鷄湯, サムゲタン, さんげたん) and roasted chicken not only to Korean but also to foreign visitors.
Samegyetang(蔘鷄湯, サムゲタン, さんげたん - chicken Korea Ginseng soup) is basically a whole young chicken(pullet) stuffed with glutinous rice and boiled in a borth of Korean Ginseng, dried seeded jujube, garlic and ginger.
The dish's name literally means "ginseng chicken soup." Samgyetang(蔘鷄湯, サムゲタン, さんげたん) is traditionally served in the summer for its supposed nutrients, which replaces those that are easily lost through excessive sweating and physical exertion during the hot summers in Korea.
Many Koreans enjoy Korean Ginseng chicken soup - Samgyetang(蔘鷄湯, サムゲタン, さんげたん) especially at three days in summer, these days are called "chobok", "Jungbok", "Malbok", days that Koreans believe to be the hottest and most sultry of the year.
The Samgyetang dish(蔘鷄湯, サムゲタン, さんげたん) is usually accompanied by side dishes and in this Korean food restaurant, you can enjoy a complimentary petit sized cup(small as Soju glass) of ginseng wine. Just ask for one ;)
This place is a branch located in Sanggye-dong, Nowon-gu and it's tidy but the taste is finger lickin' goooood! guaranteed :)
Just a couple years ago, I tried to follow the Korean culture of having Samgyetang(蔘鷄湯, サムゲタン, さんげたん) on the "Bok day" at this Korean Ginseng chicken soup restaurant but I failed because of hunger :(
I waited in the looong $ line up for an hour under the scorching sun but ended up devouring McChicken burgers in McDonalds.
These are the main menus of the Korean food restaurant:

Here are the menus in Korean. What I like the most about Korean restaurants is that you don't have to tip for the great service!
and the sidedishes are unlimted - Kkakdugi, white Kkakdugi, diced cabbage salad and preserved onion, garlic and chili in soy sauce :)
I ordered the MUST TRY Korean food "perilla seed Korean Ginseng chicken soup (Samgyetang - 蔘鷄湯, サムゲタン, さんげたん) and my FAVORITE, roasted chickin with beer! = heaven :) + = up!
"Cubed radish kimchi - Kkakdugi and white Kkakdugi" have been served as side dishes. Kkakdugi is a variety of kimchi in Korean cuisine. Usually, it has all the ingredients of Kimchi, but the Napa cabbage used for kimchi is substituted with Korean white radish - Kkakdugi.
Koreans MUST have Kkakdugi to refresh their mouth for the another bite of greasy food. It's spicy and got crunchy texture to it. Kimch and Kkakdugi are good for health especially when eaten with meat. When that pizza beckons, it's good to have some Kimchi or Kkakdugi with it! ;)
Yes! The Steaming hot perilla seed Korean Ginseng chicken soup (Samgyetang - 蔘鷄湯, サムゲタン, さんげたん) is here. Gotta watch out for the burning plate which is very hot, it'll be still boiling until you finish the Korean Ginseng chicken soup - Samgyetang.

It's lean and crispy! The smell drives me crazy.
The chicken is not marinated so you just have to dip some salt & pepper for the flavor
